The legendary Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone goes head-to-head with Leon Edwards in the headlining welterweight bout in Singapore.
If that doesn’t prove that there’s no love lost between these two fighters, then nothing will! The war of words has been fierce and there’s no reason to suggest we will see anything different in the octagon.
A veteran of 27 fights, ‘Cowboy’ has been there and done it time and again in the UFC, but will face stiff competition from the rising welterweight star on Saturday.
Having watched fellow Englishman Darren Till defeat Cerrone and be rewarded with a home fight against Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, Edwards will be hoping for something similar.
The 26-year-old, currently 13th in the rankings and two places behind his opponent, comes into the bout on a five-fight winning streak and his reputation is growing.
Despite coming in as the slight favourite with the bookmakers, Edwards undoubtedly comes up against his most notable opponent to date, where both his skillset and endurance will be tested.
As ever in the UFC, the two fighters’ respective styles add an extra level of interest because fans will be treated to a battle of the kickboxers but from different stances.
The orthodox ‘Cowboy’ will be looking to add another winning head kick to his highlight reel, while southpaw Edwards will aim to utilise his speed and accuracy to come out on top.
Who comes out on top is difficult to predict, but one thing is for sure – it’s not to be missed.
